I am the BA Programme Director and Lecturer in Social Work. I have been employed at the University since 2010. My background is in Children & Families having worked in numerous roles in and around the Humber region, including De-la-Pole Hospital, Sutton Place Safe Centre, NCH Action for Children and the NSPCC in Hull and Grimsby, as both a practitioner and Manager. My area of interest is domestic abuse and my PhD is concerned with Father Involvement in the context of domestic abuse, and specifically Fathers perspectives on their relationships with their children and with professionals. I currently chair Hull Domestic Abuse Forum, the strategic planning group responsible for developing the city strategy for domestic abuse in Hull and am a trainer for the Local Safeguarding Board. I have also been instrumental in developing a domestic abuse strategy for the university, which is ongoing with our Student Support and Wellbeing Service. Recently published work is focused on the notion of understanding Professional Curiosity with more depth and helping practitioners to enact this in their practice, the dynamics of supervision and domestic abuse/coercive control.
