I qualified as a social worker in 1985 and worked in generic social work roles in Suffolk, Buckinghamshire and Humberside. I became a team manager in East Riding in 1993.
I have always worked for local authorities until recently and been lucky enough to have had development posts where I set up an adult placement scheme and worked in a project and practice role to develop services for carers.
I held a post in East Riding as Partnership Manager and worked for a number of years as a Service Manager in mental health service.
I am very committed to the model of integrated working and have enjoyed working with staff from health and social care backgrounds. I strongly believe that service users benefit from a multi-disciplinary approach by staff who can combine their knowledge and skills to support people to live a normal life, whatever that is!
I have been the PSW for Humber NHS Foundation Trust since August 2017 and enjoy the challenge of promoting and developing the social work profession in an NHS organisation.
